Why Shop Locally?
--Convenience
--Lower the use of high-cost fuel
--Avoid traffic
--Support local jobs and keeping money flowing through our community
Do you seek out local
providers as a first choice when shopping for goods and services?
The people who operate and are employed by neighborhood businesses are paying
their mortgages or rent, maintaining homes and supporting families in our
neighborhoods by way of their businesses, which adds a great deal of value to
our neighborhoods.
Do you know what businesses
are in your neighborhood?
Most people are aware of the obvious ones – the coffee shop, the pharmacy, the
credit union, the gas station and a handful of others on the main streets
surrounding their neighborhoods.
But there's a whole lot more business going on out there!
There are painters, website builders, cleaning services, personal chefs,
massage therapists, educators, Realtors, home improvement contractors, graphic
designers, health care specialists, photographers, bookkeepers, handymen,
artists, electricians, music teachers, stylists, crafters, architects, dog
walkers, pet sitters, community organizers, butchers, bakers, candlestick
makers and a lot more.
How do you find them?
There are all kinds of businesses in your neighborhood that you may not be
aware of because they don't have the extraordinary budgets required to
advertise in the local media. However, they are likely just as qualified, and
maybe more so in some cases, to meet your product and service needs.
The Northeast Neighbors & Business Association can be a great resource for
learning about local businesses throughout the Northeast
Minneapolis area that you may not otherwise have the opportunity
to hear about.
You may search our website for Business Listings Alphabetically
or By
Category to find dining choices, as well as local product and service
providers. You may also view, print or download the 2011 Northeast Business Directory. Copies are also available at local coffee shops and retail locations.
